‘Do Not Approach’ Gwinnett Convict Who Escaped In Atlanta Monday

ATLANTA, GA — The public is being warned to stay away from a man who escaped from the Georgia Department of Corrections Monday and is still at large. The Georgia Department of Corrections tweeted, "Do not approach, call 911."

Kevin Meeks, 29, has been convicted of aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine and reckless conduct in Gwinnett County.

The Georgia Department of Corrections tweeted that Meeks walked away from the Atlanta Transitional Center at around 12:30 p.m., which is located on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta, and was last seen wearing civilian clothes.

The tweet by the Georgia Department of Corrections describes Meeks as a 5-foot-10 man weighing 168 pounds.

According to State incarceration records, Meeks has a maximum release date of Sept. 2019.
